Project Details
AF Protection Limited has recently been established as the Principal Contractor by Ward Williams Associates responsible for the remedial fire protection upgrades to the Trelawney Wing roof space at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. The entire roof space requires structural steel encasement to all roof trusses and supporting steel work to ensure one hour of fire resistance. There will also be installation of new cavity barriers, and fire stopping and penetration sealing systems in order to comply with new fire compartments established in the wards below. These renovation works will be taking place above the ceilings of a live hospital environment, therefore health and safety has been a critical factor when considering how works will commence. The renovation works are expected to run for at least 52 weeks and is one of the largest projects that AF Protection Limited has undertaken.
Project Update: The roof space fire protection works have now entered the final stages with minimal repair/corrective works required ready for sign off and handover. As a result of the quality of work on site for the past 18 months, AF Protection have received numerous purchase orders for a variety of other fire protection works across the Royal Cornwall Hospital site. We have now established ourselves as a preferred contractor on the site.

Project Updates
4th April, 2017 - Fire door upgrades have been installed throughout the site, with only decorative works remaining. Block 106 and 107 works are continuing to progress at a satisfactory pace.
16th March, 2017 - Block 105 is nearing completion with only a couple of items remaining. Block 106 is progressing as expected. Works in Block 107 have been commenced to increase production.
18th January, 2017 - Block 104 is drawing to a close with only minor works left to be completed. Operatives are now progressing through Blocks 105 and 106 completing cavity barrier upgrades, firestopping and fire door upgrades throughout.
23rd November, 2016 - Block 104 is progressing as expected with majority of the structural steel protection installed. Upgrades to partition walls is currently underway, and preparations are being made to begin the upgrade and install of new cavity barriers as well as new fire doors.
28th October, 2016 - Structural Steel Protection in Block 103 is now completely finished. Variations and additional instructions from the client have been issued which will continue work within the block, however majority of labour is now focused on completing Block 104 with the aim to begin works in Block 105.
4th October, 2016 - Phase 1 of the project (Block 103) is nearing completion. Block 104 has commenced in tandem to ensure continued progress.
